From the early 1900’s, Spruce Lodge has gone from a rooming house to bed and breakfast established in the 1970’s. As of June 1, 2020, Spruce Lodge ceased doing business as bed and breakfast and has moved in another direction which has allowed Carol to semi-retire. Please explore our website, we may just have what you looking for. The Lodge is located inside Lake Placid and with in a ten mile radius of all area activities.
We Begin Again…
The family had made it known that they wanted Carol to retire. They knew that if they were going to persuade her they would have to come up with a plan She would agree with. A new direction was presented with a positive response. The property is now made up of a large vacation rental, long term rentals, And a couple of accommodations available for nightly plus rentals. Information regarding each type rental will be explained in each section of this website.
A Bit o’ History…
1910 – the oldest documentation of when the Main House was built; however a recent guest claims his grandfather built the house in the late 1800’s.
1949 – Guy and Alta Wescott purchase the property and begin running it as a family run lodge after their 8 children moved out.
1986 – The property is purchased from the Wescott estate by Carol Hoffman, one of Guy and Alta’s 23 grandchildren.
2004 – The Wescott’s Townhouses are built.
2020 – Bed and Breakfast closes, Carol semi retires and a new journey begins.
